Our commitment to privacy & safety through ST4S

Stymie has been assessed under the Safer Technologies 4 Schools (ST4S) framework and received a Medium Risk outcome.

ST4S is the national privacy-and-security assessment used by education authorities across Australia and New Zealand to help schools select digital products that safeguard student information.

What a “Medium Risk” ST4S outcome means

A Medium outcome indicates the product substantially meets the framework; any identified concerns can be addressed through specific configurations or other treatments recommended in the assessment. Most products used in schools receive a Medium risk rating.

How we act on our assessment

We treat ST4S as an ongoing assurance program—not a one-off check. In practice, we:

Our privacy & security in plain English

Anonymous by design:
Stymie exists to give young people a safe, anonymous way to report harm. Notifications are encrypted and delivered to authorised school recipients only, who respond under the school’s wellbeing framework.
Privacy first:
We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses our service; details of our practices are published in our Privacy Policy. Stymie
Clear roles & responsibilities:

We work with schools so consent, communication with families, and local policy settings align with sector expectations and ST4S guidance.

Why this matters

ST4S brings consistent, sector-endorsed expectations for privacy, security and online safety to K-12 products across Australia and New Zealand. By aligning tightly to ST4S and by partnering with schools to implement the recommended actions, Stymie helps protect student information while supporting safe, timely responses to harm.
